A/T CONTROL SYSTEM
SMOOTH LOCK-UP CONTROL
When shifting from the lock-up released state to the lock-up applied state, the current output to the pressure A
control solenoid valve C is controlled with the TCM. In this way, when shifting to the lock-up applied state, the
torque converter clutch is temporarily set to the half-clutched state to reduce the shock.
Half-Clutched State B
● The current output from the TCM to the pressure control solenoid valve C is varied to steadily increase the
pressure control solenoid valve C pressure.
In this way, the lock-up apply pressure gradually rises and while the torque converter clutch piston is put AT
into half-clutched status, the torque converter clutch piston operating pressure is increased and the cou-
pling is completed smoothly.
Slip Lock-up Control D
● In the slip region, the pressure control solenoid valve C current is controlled with the TCM to put it into the
half-clutched state. This absorbs the engine torque fluctuation and lock-up operates from low speed.
This raises the fuel efficiency for 4th and 5th gears at both low speed and when the accelerator has a low E
degree of opening.

DTC P0745 PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE A (LINE PRESSURE)
DTC P0745 PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE A (LINE PRESSURE)
PFP:31940 A
Description ECS00E9R
● The pressure control solenoid valve A is normally high, 3-port
B
linear pressure control solenoid.
● The pressure control solenoid valve A regulates the oil pump
discharge pressure to suit the driving condition in response to a
signal sent from the TCM. AT
D
SCIA2831E
E
On Board Diagnosis Logic ECS00E9S
● This is an OBD-II self-diagnostic item.
F
● Diagnostic trouble code “PC SOL A(L/PRESS)” with CONSULT-II or P0745 without CONSULT-II is
detected under the following conditions.
– When normal voltage is not applied to solenoid due to open, short, and so on.
G
– When TCM detects as irregular by comparing target value with monitor value.
Possible Cause ECS00E9T
H
● Harness or connectors
(The solenoid circuit is open or shorted.)
● Pressure control solenoid valve A
I
DTC Confirmation Procedure ECS00E9U
NOTE:
If “DTC Confirmation Procedure” has been previously performed, always turn ignition switch “OFF” J
and wait at least 10 seconds before performing the next test.
After the repair, perform the following procedure to confirm the malfunction is eliminated.
WITH CONSULT-II K
1. Turn ignition switch “ON”. (Do not start engine.)
2. Select “DATA MONITOR” mode for “TRANSMISSION” with
CONSULT-II. L
3. Start engine.
4. Run engine for at least 13 consecutive seconds at idle speed.
M
5. If DTC is detected, go to AT-143, "Diagnostic Procedure" .
BCIA0030E
WITH GST
Follow the procedure “With CONSULT-II”.
