Wear a suitable hearing protective device such
as earmuffs or earplugs to protect against noise.
Prolonged exposure to loud noise can cause
impairment or loss of hearing. This machine exceeds
70 dB(A) in the cab and exceeds 85 dB(A) when
servicing the machine engine.
Check with your local Safety Commission to determine
if hearing protection is required at these levels.

GREASE INJECTION INJURY WHEN
USING PNEUMATIC GREASE GUNS
Pneumatic grease guns can deliver grease at
pressures from 17 - 400 Bar (246 - 5801 psi).
It takes less than 7 Bar (100 psi) to inject a
substance through human skin.
ALWAYS get professional medical treatment
immediately after any type of injection injury.
Provide the physician with information on the type
of grease, the pressure setting of the gun, and
similar details.
The amount of fluid injected, type of fluid (or
material), pressure at which it was injected, and
the elapsed time between injection and surgery all
influence the chances of successful treatment for
this type of serious injury.
Prior to using a high pressure pneumatic grease
gun, perform the following:
• DO NOT OPERATE a high pressure
pneumatic grease gun unless you have been
trained in the proper operation and are aware
of all safety precautions of such a tool.
• All operators of high pressure pneumatic
grease guns MUST be trained in the hazards
of its operations and the treatment for such
injuries.
• Wear proper protective equipment such as
gloves, safety hat and safety glasses.
• Inspect all parts of the grease gun for wear
and tear and replace all worn or damaged
parts.
• Make sure that protective shrouds are
installed on all grease gun nozzles as safety
devices.
• Remove dirt and grease from grease fittings
prior to greasing.
• Replace any defective grease fittings on
equipment with new fittings immediately.
• When badly positioned fittings are identified,
replace them with angled or swivel fittings for
easier access.

result in death or serious injury.
DO NOT start the machine until other personnel
are a safe distance away from the machine.
When the engine is running, DO NOT allow
anyone in areas of the machine where they may
be crushed by moving components.
Maintain a safe operating distance between the
machine and workers and all other personnel. It is
the duty of the operator to ensure that no person
approach the machine while in use, the risk zone
is 150 m (500 ft).
DO NOT attempt to service or work on the

CAUTION
Before placing the fan switch in the CLEAN
position, make sure that there are no
personnel near the REAR of the machine in
the area where the fan expels debris.
CLEAN - UP POSITION - Momentarily
pressing the switch to the CLEAN position
automatically starts reversing the direction
of fan rotation (there is no need to hold the
switch down). Reverse rotation is used to
clean the charge air cooler, radiator, oil cooler,
A/C condenser and air intake door screens.
Reversing the flow of the fan, propels air in
the opposite direction, thereby forcing dust
and debris off of the radiator.
NOTE: The pilot system must be ON to
operate the clean cycle.
The electronic fan control also turns the A/C
system OFF for as long as the fan is in the
CLEAN mode.
When the CLEAN cycle is complete the
fan automatically returns to normal rotation
direction.
NOTE: The CLEAN cycle also operates
automatically via the timed purge function
of the computer control system (frequency
is adjustable). Refer to COMPUTER
- INFORMATION MESSAGES and
COMPUTER - DIAGNOSTIC - ADJUST
FUNCTION PARAMETERS in this section.
NOTE: If engine speed falls to 875 rpm
or less the speed control is automatically
overridden and fan speed defaults to the
forward direction.

MD3 MESSAGES
The MD3 computer displays messages and
warnings, activates the master alarm and the
alarm light whenever a system fault occurs.
NOTE: The computer control system
automatically performs a bulb test at engine start-
up to ensure that both the master alarm and alarm
light are functioning. Refer to STARTING ENGINE
in this section.
There are different types of Messages and
Alarms. They appear on the screen as a block
message. The types of messages are:
• CRITICAL MESSAGE - RED
• ALERT MESSAGE - YELLOW
• INFORMATION MESSAGE - BLUE
Messages can be hidden or acknowledged by
pressing the F2 button (Hide or OK).
All messages that have been hidden or
acknowledged are stored in the computer.
In some instances it is necessary to immediately
stop the machine, turn OFF the engine and repair
the problem causing the message.
Active fault messages that have been hidden can
be reviewed by pressing the F4 button. Recalled
messages and warnings are displayed in order
starting with the highest priority first.
